As a Senior Advisor and Principal with Wealthstream Advisors, Matt focuses on building new client relationships and supporting existing ones, working closely with the firm’s analysts to design and execute financial plans that will position clients to reach their goals. He confers with clients and collaborates with their accountants, attorneys, and insurance agents to help execute financial planning advice. A self-described “puzzle solver,” Matt enjoys crunching the numbers to show clients how implementing a particular strategy could make it feasible for them to achieve even more success. As Director of Education, Matt also works to create and deliver comprehensive financial planning training for our team of analysts and advisors.

Matthew has spent his entire 25-year career in the financial services industry. Before joining Wealthstream Advisors, Matt held leadership positions with a range of companies, including Transamerica, Citicorp Investment Services, and Citibank Private Bank. He also served as the director of courses for the New York Institute of Finance. Most recently, he was the director of financial planning for a national wealth management firm for 12 years. There, he grew the company’s financial planning division from its inception to a multimillion-dollar business. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA in finance from Columbia University.

Through his many years in the financial industry, Matt learned that clients are best served by financial advisors who are informed and independent. Joining Wealthstream allowed him to move beyond potential conflicts of interest and work with clients in an environment where their best interests are always front and center.

Matt, his wife Elisa, and their two wonderful children live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He enjoys playing bridge, hiking, biking, and traveling (particularly to remote places). An avid puzzle enthusiast, Matt aspires to one day submit his own contribution to the Sunday New York Times crossword.

His favorite book is A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.
